The actress vouches for maintaining fitness by mixing workouts with relaxation techniques

Over the years, several actors managed to make a smooth transition from small screen to big screen. Prachi Desai is one of them.

With the acute shift from one medium to another comes the responsibility
to stay fit. The petite actress has so far managed to do well thanks to
her strict adherence of yoga routines and diet regimes. In a chat with
us,

Prachi drops a few tips...

>> An actor's life: Balancing my shooting schedules with my
fitness has to be the biggest task of my daily life. Sometimes I wake
up at five and go back to sleep at midnight. It could be stressful at
times but

you somehow have to maintain the fitness level. I practice power yoga as
it instantly energizes me and I've benefited a lot from it. What people
don't realise is it helps in toning the body as well.

>> No, weight: I've tried weight training earlier but no
matter how light the weights are, they never really complimented my body
type. So eventually I gave up on the whole thing. Having said that, I
make sure I

catch up on my cardio and basic workout. There are separate sets of
exercises for upper as well as lower body.

>> Team sports: My liking for sports has more to do with my
colleagues than with the sport itself. I participate simply for the fun
to be together and doing one thing at the same thing. I'm not
competitive. When

we're shooting outside, volleyball and table-tennis happens and I make
the most of it.

>> Food for thought: When I'm shooting, I generally eat in
small measures. Fruit juices and coconut water does the trick for me as
far as fluids are concerned. I take light food even for lunch with some
nuts

and dates. They don't make me sleepy and are instant forms of energy.
Since summer is here, I keep sipping nimbu pani with no sugar and have
soup or salad for dinner.

>> Mantra: Never skip a meal. Don' overeat. Don't starve
yourself either. Have green tea, yogurt, nut or boiled egg. Provide
yourself plenty of fibres in the form of juicy fruits like orange.

>> To-do list: 50 jumping jacks, 50 squats, 50 push-ups, 50
working lunges and if you can, run a quarter mile after that. Keep
experimenting with the numbers according to your stamina and will. If
you don't

like to exercise, join dancing classes or aerobics.

I don't have guts to be 'Serial Kisser'

I don`t have guts to be `Serial Kisser`

Monday, April 29, 2013 15:55 IST

By Santa Banta News

The actor who not only has Good Looks, But also choose the role
which stays in one's mind for a long time. The actor who choose
unconventional work for himself. From 'Johnny Gaddar' to 'Jail' to the
latest thriller

'3G'. Son of 'Legendary' singer Nitin Mukesh, Neil Nitin Mukesh is
confident about people liking him and his work. Straight from Neil's
heart by Faisal Saif.

What is Neil Nitin Mukesh and his Journey?

Neil Nitin Mukesh is a very simple man. I have a 9 to 5 job, After that i
go back to my family which is my mother and my father. I don't have
guts to be in any 'Serial' territoty, Be it 'Kisser' or a 'Killer'.
(Laughs). My

Journey has been extremely interesting.

There were lot's of Up's
and Down's, But so far very intelligently grafted Journey i may call
it. I have worked with the Finest Director's of Bollywood. There are
also

some new director's in my kitty. I am looking forward to it.

According to you, What are the films that belong to the 100 Crore Club?

There are very few films that belong to this club. Kahaani, Barfi, English Vinglish would be my examples.

So you feel you are doing Bad Films?

Sometimes i do feel that am i doing Bad Films. It's confusing sometimes.
It throws me off sometimes trying to make a choice of Films. But i hold
my horses and come back to believing in what i am doing.

You mean the Cinema is changing a lot?

Yes i believe the cinema is changing a lot today. Today i have films
like Gangs of Wasseypur, Kai Po Che doing well. It gives me little bit
of confidence and hope.

As an Actor, What went wrong with 'David'?

I don't know. As an actor, I do my work. If it works, It works. For me
'New York' was a commercial success. It had everything. Well directed,
Large scale etc. I love to do that kind of films. If you ask me to put
my finger

into a 'Plug-Hole' and move around for 20 minutes to generate few
laughs, I might not be comfortable doing it.

When will you do a Romantic Film? Why always Dark and Edgy films?

No one asks Mr. Shah Rukh Khan when will he do a 'Dark' or an 'Edgy'
film? Romantic Films are not my Territory, There are so many films that i
have refused and they were disasters. For example 'Luck' was offered to

me, 'Blue' was offered to me.

You can see me in 'Saat Khoon
Maaf' which had hardly 20 minutes of me, But still made an Impact. No
matter if these films are successful or no, But i have always been

appreciated. And that's the reason why i am sustaining.

Any film for which you have worked real hard and it didn't work?

(Immediately) Jail. I was really upset when Jail didn't work. I had put
in my heart, My soul into Jail. The film taught me a lot in life, Not
to 'Expect'. I used to expect a lot from Jail. Madhur Bhandarkar,
Intelligent Film,

Serious Cinema, And suddenly it didn't do well. I figured out people are
not wanting to watch that kind of a Film.

And what do you have to say about 'Shortcut Romeo'?

Shortcut Romeo is a very 'Kameena' film. (Laughs). It is very different
from the Original (Tamil Version). When the film came to me, I really
liked my character. I always wanted to have that 'X' Factor of
'Haraamipan'

(Apologizes) Pardon my language.

And the film has that 'X'
Factor. There's a lot of Cat and Mouse game in the film. We have added a
lot of twist and turns. There's a lot of deliciously interesting
badness in

this guy's character. And coming to Commercial Cinema, Shortcut Romeo
will be my answer to that.

Also, Is 'Dussehra' is a Commercial Film too?

Dussehra is an out to out hardcore action film. You will see me fighting
with 30 Men. But the film has some mind blowing performances too.

Are you producing a film too?

Yes i am producing a film called 'Paidaar'. It means Eternal. I have
written the film also. I plan to shoot this film by the end of the year.

What are you fond of?

People call me a 'Gadget-Freak'. I have this craze of buying Gadget's
for myself. I would rather not go shopping for my clothes, But i would
prefer shopping for Gadget's. Recently i got myself a Projector which is
4

inches.

You can connect it to your I Phone, And get a 100 Inches
on to your Wall. And i have a 3 Inches Bluetooth keyboard which can be
connected to any of your Instrument, And it show's out a 'Laser

Keyboard' in the air.

Sunny Leone is a thorough professional'

`Sunny Leone is a thorough professional`

Actor talks about life post 'Gangs of Wasseypur' and how the term crossover is immaterial

Manoj Bajpai has had a high success rate in gangster roles. Although
he's fully aware of his popularity in the genre, he tries to maintain
variety as far as his onscreen appearances go.

As of now, the

versatile actor is shooting in Bhopal for Prakash Jha's upcoming film
and despite the hectic schedule, he manages time to talk to us. In the
ensuing chat, Manoj talks about fame and playing a don once again. . .

We have seen quite a few crossover films last year. What made you stay away from them?

Last year, I did Gangs of Wasseypur, Special 26 and Chittagong. I don't
believe that there's something special about the term crossover. It
doesn't say anything. What stands out is a good story that's well told,

irrespective of whether it's mainstream or crossover.

The buzz is that you've become very particular about your fees?

Yes, I was never conscious about my fees before but now I have become
so. After all, I have more responsibilities now in terms of family. And I
feel that by now people know that I can deliver well as an actor. So,
it's fair

to demand what I truly merit.

You seem to be playing a gangster in quite a few films. How different is your role in your latest film?

Well, this is a commercial film so the character is larger-than-life and
stylish. My character Zubair loves his brother to death and is no where
close to Sardar Khan of GOW or Bhiku Mhatre of Satya.

How is Sunny Leone as a co-star?

We have a single shot together. In whatever little time I spent with
her, I realised that she was a thorough professional. She delivered her
dialogues in Hindi in a single take, which I thought was quite
admirable.

Don't you miss doing solo films?

Yes, I am getting some good scripts in ensemble films and I don't see
any reason to refuse them. I am getting to act with Prosenjit Chatterjee
and Parambrata Chatterjee -- actors whom I love -- in the Hindi remake
of

Malayalam film Traffic. In fact, I'm proud of Prosenjit's achievements.
He grew up in Mumbai, shifted to Kolkata and ruled over the Bengali film
industry. What more can you ask for in a career?

Does your daughter Ava Nyla recognise you on screen?

Yes, she's two now and says papa whenever she sees me on TV (laughs).
You see, once kids turn into teenagers they love the teenybopper stuff. I
want to do some films that she'll love irrespective of her age.

We are celebrating 100 years of cinema next month. What are your all-time favourite films?

Sholay and Mughal-E-Azam are my all-time faves. Amongst my films, I love Pinjar and Satya.

Rahul Roy : Why I was not invited to see Aashiqui 2

Rahul Roy : Why I was not invited to see Aashiqui 2

Tuesday, April 30, 2013 13:57 IST

By Subhash K Jha , Santa Banta News

23 years after Mahesh Bhatt's Aashiqui became a blockbuster its leading
man Rahul Roy is wondering why he hasn't been invited to see Aashiqui
2.

`I have not seen the film. Maybe because I am no longer that close to
Mahesh Bhatt Saab. During the last 12-13 years we just drifted apart. If
I had seen it I'd be better positioned to comment on it.

As

things stand when I'm asked about it I can only conjecture. As far as I
can see there is very little connection between my Aashiqui and this
film except that shot of the lovers' faces hidden in the coat.

But

the impact of that moment is so great that people immediately connected
the two films. However in my opinion nostalgia is impossible to beat.
And like it or not Aashiqui is in the region of nostalgia. `

Reminisces Rahul, `It's bizarre. Aashiqui is a brilliant monkey on my
shoulder. And I don't think that magic can be recreated. The music of
Aashiqui by Nadeem Shravan was unbeatable. However I like the songs in

Aashiqui 2.

For once I can understand the songs and lyrics in a
contemporary score. But if you're going to tell me that this music can
be compared with the original Aashiqui, then I'm sorry that can't

happen. Aashiqui was magic.

It somehow just happened. It's very
rare to have all 8 tracks being superhits. 23 years later they are still
hummed. I remember within three days of the music release people

went berserk over the music. I haven't seen that kind of craze for any
film soundtrack.

And mind you, we didn't have 200 television channels to promote it. I still say, Aashiqui should be able to stand on its

own. But it won't match the craze of the original. `

Rahul admits he hasn't kept in touch with his Aashiqui co-stars. `I
haven't been able to keep in touch with Anu Aggarwal. But Deepak Tijori
was with me in Bigg Boss. Very honestly, we all are busy. But we care
for one

another. I have to confess I am wary of introducing myself to the newer
lot of actors. `

Speaking of Mahesh Bhatt Rahul says, `I've always treated him like a
father-figure. But I am no longer the 24-year old boy I was during
Aashiqui. 15 years ago I was deeply attached to Mahesh Bhatt and his
banner

Vishesh Films. I did five films with them.

They were like my
home turf. Every time I had a career low I could go back to them Finally
though I had to face the world on my own. When I started my spiritual

journey I realized I had to cut away from all attachment. I had to face
facts.

If I did a bad film I bloody well had to face the music.
My dependence on Vishesh Films is gone. But that doesn't mean my love

and respect for them has also diminished. If they offer me a film I'd do
it. But I can no longer knock on their doors asking for work. `

Rahul is filled with hope for the future. `I've a great family. My wife
Rajlaxmi lives in Sydney. She works over there. And I keep shuffling
between Mumbai and Sydney. I spend some months there every year. She is
here

for some months. We've a great life together and apart. It's important
in a relationship to give the two individuals space to grow. We aren't
parents as yet. But we're planning a baby. She's 11 years younger to me.
`

Rahul is going to star in a thriller to be shot in overseas. `I've
great things happening to me. I am ready to announce a new film. I want
to work the way I want. For many years I was traveling up and down from

Australia.

I've finally got my permanent residency there. I am
ready to work again. But I I don't want to do worthless stuff. I can't
play a college boy any more.

But I am playing a flamboyant rich

person like the character I played in Mahesh Bhatt Saab's Junoon. The
story idea is mine. The director is Rajiv Patil whose Marathi film Jogwa
won 5 National awards. `

He looks back with gratitude at the film industry. `People call me a
one-film wonder. I say, every actor should have that one hit like
Aashiqui to their credit. People still remember me and the film.
Kam-se-kam wohtoh

kar ke dikhao (at least show me you can do that). They've given me
enough.

I am still getting love and respect from my peers and
the junta. I've managed to keep up relationships and equations within
the

industry. I've to be happy with that. As far as my career is concerned,
every actor is on test every Friday. When one starts one's career with a
hit like Aashiqui it's hard to keep up that momentum.

And you

know what, even if I had a chance to re-live my life I wouldn't have it
any other way. Even all the mistakes were welcome. They've helped me
grow. `

I just want to lose as much weight as possible: Parineeti Chopra

I just want to lose as much weight as possible: Parineeti Chopra

Tuesday, April 30, 2013 12:48 IST

By Santa Banta News

Parineeti Chopra is the newest darling of Bollywood. Sreya Basu chats
up with the bubbly actress in Mumbai on films, weight loss and more

You have lost oodles of weight recently. Is it for any film?

I was anyway planning to lose weight for a long time. For Ladies vs
Ricky Bahl (2011) I had to be a little chubby and then I started losing
weight for Ishaqzaade (2012). I wanted to look a little better, so I
decided to tone down my body. But it's not for Hasi Toh Phasi (with
Sidharth Malhotra). There are rumours that I have lost so and so kilos, I
just want to lose as much weight as possible and look as good as I can
in my next film.

What is more important - looking good or good acting?

I think an actress should be a combination of both. I know there are
certain actresses who are very comfortable with their size and only want
to concentrate on acting. But I would like to do both.

Will you wear a bikini on screen?

I will surely wear a bikini on screen one day when I will have the body for it.

Do you believe wearing black makes one look thin?

(Laughs) If you ask me, I will say I don't have a problem in wearing any colour except brown.

Did you always want to be an actress?

I never wanted to be an actor and used to believe that actors were
useless. I would have been a banker. Now I believe that actors are the
best.

What is your dream role?

None. Any good script is good for me. But I can watch DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, 1995) over and over again.

What kind of a person are you?

I am very impatient. I want things to happen in two minutes.

How do you react when people come up to you with pick-up lines?

It's stupid. Once someone came up to me and asked: `Did it hurt?` I
said: `What?` He said: `When you dropped down from heaven?` I felt like
giving him a tight slap.

Are you a make-up person?

No. I just use a lip balm. I don't use make-up off camera. I am very
lazy that way ... I don't want to waste time applying and removing
make-up. I just want to go to sleep when I return home at night. Every
day my mother (Reena Chopra) will coax me to use this beauty tip and
that, but I never listen to her.

Many of your contemporaries and immediate seniors are on Botox for that ultra-glam look. Will you too try that in future?

No, never. I am too scared of the process. I would have done a lot of
things by now (hinting at cosmetic surgery) if I were not scared. But I
am always scared of these things.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

I love holidaying in London.

What do you read in leisure?

Any Dan Brown or Sidney Sheldon book will do for me.

What are the must-haves in you bag?

I always have perfume, deodorant, face clean up and phone charger in my
bag. But my biggest issue is to remember to carry that bag.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini reportedly delayed till July

samsung-good-635.jpg

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini has been garnering a lot of attention in the last
few months. This smartphone was expected to be launched soon after
Samsung Galaxy S4 becomes available. However, as per a fresh report by
SamMobile, the Korean smartphone maker has delayed the launch of
Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. According to this report, Samsung will now be launching
Galaxy S4 mini in the week starting July 15, 2013, compared to the
earlier date of week of May 20, 2013 as the launch week. The website has
not stated any specific reason for this delay.

The existence of
Samsung Galaxy S4 mini was recently confirmed via Samsung's UAPROF
website. As far as the specifications are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy
S4 mini will supposedly have a 4.3-inch qHD display. The smartphone is
said to pack in 8-megapixel camera and run on Android 4.2.2 out of the
box along with a layer of Samsung's own Touch Wiz Nature UX.
Connectivity options reportedly include 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and AGPS.

As
per rumours, it is being touted that Samsung will launch Galaxy S4 mini
in four variants. The first will be a single SIM phone that has the
model number GT-I9190, which will come with a quad-core processor and
support HSPA+. Samsung Galaxy S4 mini GT-I9192, on the other hand, is a
dual-SIM variant which has a dual-core processor and also supports
HSPA+. The Korean smartphone-maker will also be releasing Samsung Galaxy
S4 mini GT-I9195, which will support LTE. Lastly, the model number
GT-I9198 is for the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini that will be launched in
China. This model is unlikely to be launched in other markets.

The
alleged pictures of this smartphone had leaked online a month back.

So
far there is no word on what will be the price of Samsung Galaxy S4
mini and whether it will be launched in India in the near future.

Lovemaking or bold scene like any other scenes: Shraddha

Lovemaking or bold scene like any other scenes: Shraddha

Shraddha Kapoor gives importance to "good story" and "good
role", and says that she treats lovemaking or bold scene like any other
sequence.

Seen in "Teen Patti" and "Luv Ka The End", Shraddha's next is romantic
musical "Aashiqui 2", in which she will be seen romancing Aditya Roy
Kapoor.

Talking about her preferences, she said: "It depends on the story. It
has to excite me. I don't see a scene as an intimate scene. It's just
that I want to be a part of a great story and do good roles."

"I don't see a scene as a lovemaking or a bold scene. There has to be
something (in the story), which should attract me to a film. I treat all
scenes like that, " she said during a group interview.

While working on "Aashiqui 2", she admits sharing a great bond with Aditya on and off the screen.

"Aditya and I got comfortable with each other and it shows on the
screen. People have been calling me and telling me that we have a good
chemistry. Off screen, we have become good friends and somewhere that
has

translated on the screen as well. That is wonderful, " said the
24-year-old.

Director Mohit Suri's "Aashiqui 2" is her first romantic film. Also, the
fact that it is a sequel to 1990 romantic blockbuster "Aashiqui" made
it challenging for Shraddha.

"Mohit is emotionally connected to the film. For us, to understand the
depth of the film took a little bit of time and it was a challenge. But
Mohit took us down to the level where he was, so we could understand
what we

were getting into, " she said.

The actress also said the director ensured they don't feel the pressure of "Aashiqui" success.

"The first 'Aashiqui' was a blockbuster, so there's pressure. But Mohit
made sure we didn't face any pressure. He completely got us involved in
the film, so that we don't think about anything else, " she said.

Shraddha was barely one-year-old when Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal starrer
had come out. When she saw the film, she was "very small". "I remember
listening to the songs while growing up. 'Sanson ki zaroorat' was

my favourite, " she said.

"Aashiqui 2" is coming out April 26.

'Shootout At Wadala' gets Adult-certificate

`Shootout At Wadala` gets Adult-certificate

However, the censor board has asked that some of the dialogues spoken by John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee and Tusshar Kapoor

be cleaned up. Director Sanjay Gupta is not complaining.

"I think the censor board has been reasonable with my film. We expected
an 'A' certificate and got that. Yeah, they did object to

some dialogues. My actors are busy re-dubbing the dialogues that the
CBFC wanted changed," said Gupta.

An adaptation of Hussain Zaidi's "Dongri to Dubai", the film is about a
real incident. It revolves around Mumbai police's first official

encounter, in which gangster Manya Surve was shot down.

Apparently Gupta was aware of the hardhitting content and the trouble it may cause with the censors. According to sources, the

filmmaker voluntarily removed a whole sequence where debutant Siddharth Kapoor discussed the genesis and relevance of an

Hindi expletive with his pals.

http://media.santabanta.com/newsite/cinemascope/feed/arjun-alia.jpg

The censor's axe also fell on a sequence where a cop tells John that it
is not his fault that John has turned out the way he has but

his mother's fault. The CBFC has ordered that the reference to the
mother be removed.

In another sequence, Tusshar Kapoor exchanges girl talk with his pal and there's a reference to the Taj Mahal and Shah Jehan,

which the CBFC has asked to be removed. Also, since no historical or political figure is allowed to be mentioned, the CBFC has

asked Gupta to remove a reference to Subhas Chandra Bose made by Manoj.

As for Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone's controversial and hugely
popular item song "Laila teri le legi", the board has asked

Gupta to change "Le legi" to "Loot legi" in certain portions.

Earth Day 2013 marked by animated Google doodle

earth_day_2013_google_doodle.jpg

Earth
Day 2013 has seen Google continue the tradition of marking the occasion
with a doodle. Indeed, this is the 13th straight year that Google has
celebrated the day in its own way.

Earth Day was first celebrated in the US in 1970. The idea was the
brainchild Gaylord Nelson, then a US Senator from Wisconsin. Nelson
conceived the idea after witnessing the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa
Barbara, California.

Inspired by the student movement that was going on
at the time against the Vietnam war, Nelson dreamt of movement that
would make people think about air and water pollution and force
environmental protection onto the national political agenda.

Senator Gaylord Nelson announced the idea for a "national teach-in on
the environment" and persuaded Pete McCloskey, a conservation-minded
Republican Congressman, to serve as his co-chair. He also got Denis
Hayes on board as a national coordinator for the event. Hayes did a lot
of the ground work, building a national staff of 85 to promote events
across the land.

The first ever Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. An
incredible 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and
auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment all
across the country. Thousands of colleges and universities organised
protests against the deterioration of the environment. Groups that had
been fighting against oil spills, polluting factories and power plants,
raw sewage, toxic dumps, pesticides, freeways, the loss of wilderness,
and the extinction of wildlife, independently till now, suddenly
realised they shared common values.

The first Earth Day led to the creation of the United States
Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean
Water, and Endangered Species Acts. "It was a gamble," Gaylord said,
"but it worked."

Earth Day is now observed in around 192 countries, with activities
being coordinated by the nonprofit Earth Day Network, chaired by the
first Earth Day coordinator Denis Hayes.

Monday's Google doodle shows the cycle of seasons represented with
the rising and falling Sun and Moon in an animated Google doodle. This
is Google's 13th Earth Day doodle, with each year the doodles getting
more elaborate. You can take a look back at the Earth Day Google doodles over the year.

"Apun Bola, Tu Meri Laila" from "Josh" (2000). Like every newcomer she
had her share of struggles.

She agreed that she did get a platform to showcase her talents easily but sustaining it has not been a cake walk.

Recently, While interviewing for a reputed magazine, The versatile
singer confronted her pain and struggles. "Bollywood is full of

Bad People and Good People as well. I was never getting Good People.
Which ever Studio I went, People kept a Bad Eye on me.

They wanted to sleep with me. They used to give examples of others. But i never got depressed as i have always

'Worshiped' my music and made a point that i will never insult my music. Till today, God lives in my music." said Hema

Sardesaai.

Today with above 60 Super Hit tracks in Bollywood movies, Hema feels no Music Composer wants to work with her.

On being asked why she doesn't approach composers she has worked earlier, Hema replies sweetly "It's not in my habit to

harass people for work.

I just requested them that whenever they think of me, I am there for work. Many people told

me to butter Music Composers for work, But i just cannot. Those Music Composers have already worked with me. The Songs

were a Hit. I am their Humble-Singer."

Hema Sardesaai will be soon lend her voice in two songs for Naseeruddin Shah-Randeep Hooda starrer 'The Coffin Maker' which is

in the post-production stage.
